An intro to Film: Boring to interesting Assignment

Have you ever watched a film and thought, "Man, how did they make a 2.5 hour film about a kings speech impediment so interesting?"
Well that my friend is the magic of Film!
For our first lesson, we focus on film and how it can bring the most remedial things to life. The student were supposed to pick a think that they considered "not very interesting", and they went to bring that activity to life.

I am a big fan of the channel folding Ideas where they talk about different elements of film. This video is especially informative for the beginner in filmmaking. If you like this video I would strongly suggest watching the rest of his videos.

Addendum: If you have ever wondered why I hate Suicide Squad I would highly recommend his review on the movie.

Steps
1. Find a subject that is, for lack of a better word, boring.
2. Using angles, music, and quick cuts, make the video move in an interesting manner.
3. Edit the film
4. Have a conversation with students afterwards discussing their process, and experiences.

Here are a few examples of our finished work. I hope you enjoy!

Remember if you like what you see make sure you follow the blog to see what is coming out as it happens!
